The Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB) is proud to announce Shelika Hooker as the recipient of the Employee of the Quarter award for Q1 of 2021.

Hooker, Director for Workforce Education in the Division of Workforce, Career, Technical, and Adult Education, was nominated for the award by colleagues and peers. She has been employed with MCCB for about two and a half years.

According to her peers, “Shelika works well with her monitoring team and is a true delight to work with.” She “provides innovative ideas for the way [the MCCB] provides services to our community colleges; works hard to maintain relationships with colleges; has unquestionable integrity; is an expert in her field; bridges divisions together; and successfully helps colleges work through database issues.”

"Shelika is a tremendous asset to the agency with extensive knowledge of the Workforce Education Subgrant System (WESS) and the MCCB Workforce guidelines," said Sandy Crist, Assistant Executive Director for Workforce, Career, Technical, and Adult Education. "She is a problem-solver and provides professional, accurate support to our colleges as well as the staff at the MCCB."

As Employee of the Quarter, Hooker receives a reserved parking spot for one quarter, a framed certificate, inclusion on a perpetual engraved plaque, and an automatic nomination for the annual Award for Staff Excellence.
