Mrs. Cheryl Thurmond was appointed to the Board by Governor Phil Bryant in 2012 to represent the First Congressional District.
Mrs. Thurmond is owner of the Red Barn, LLC and co-owner of the family business, First Monday Trade Day, Inc. She retired from the Department of Education with 31 years in the Tippah County school system and seven years as Social Services Director with Diversicare of Ripley. She has served on the Education Achievement Council, National Board of Directors of the Mississippi State Alumni Association, former president of the Tippah County Mississippi State Alumni Chapter, FBC Children’s and Youth Bible Drill Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Ripley Garden Club, and Kappa Kappa Iota.
She is a graduate of Ripley High School, Northeast Mississippi Community College, and earned a BA degree in Social Work from Mississippi State University.
Cheryl and her husband, Keith, reside in Ripley and are the parents of two children, Ross of Madison and Holly Pataki of Washington, DC.
