Mr. Johnny McRight was appointed to the Board by Governor Phil Bryant in 2015 to represent the Second Congressional District.
Johnny founded McRight Soil Testing in 1976 and still owns and operates the company as McRight Services, LLC. After many years and literally millions of acres of soil and plant tissue testing and consulting, McRight developed a chemistry designed to reduce stress and improve crop response to fertilizers. Today, McRight formulates and manufactures a complete line of crop biostimulants and micronutrients for agriculture, under the name DeltAg Formulations that are sold through agricultural distributors and dealers across the United States, Canada and over-seas.
He has served on both the Washington County Economic Alliance and the Delta Work Force Investment Board since 2010. He has been a member of First Baptist-Greenville since 1962, where he has served as a Deacon and Church Trustee. Johnny also served as Chairperson of the Dixie National Quarter Horse Shows in Jackson for six years and served on the American Quarter Horse Association Show Committee and its Judges Approval Committee for several years. He is also active in economic development for the entire Mississippi Delta through the activities of Delta Council’s economic development division called Delta Strong.
He graduated from Greenville High School in 1969. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College and the University of Mississippi, where he completed a B.S in Biology and Chemistry in 1973 and completed a Masters of Combined Sciences in Biology in 1975.
Johnny and Renee Henderson McRight have been married since 1972 and they have one daughter, Meriwalker McRight Nipper and she and husband Justin have four sons.
