Powering the System
The Information Technology Division provides essential technology services for the Mississippi Community College Board (the MCCB) and supports Mississippi’s 15 community colleges. The division manages core applications and reporting systems, maintains secure and reliable infrastructure, and provides internal technology support that enables the MCCB and the colleges to operate efficiently and effectively.
Technology Services and Applications
The Division supports the work of the MCCB and the community colleges through a combination of internal services, shared applications, and systemwide infrastructure. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Reporting systems and enterprise applications used across the community college system for finance, administration, enrollment, athletics, career and technical education, and workforce programs. A full list is available on the MCCB Reporting Systems page.
- Data center operations that provide secure hosting, storage, and centralized services for the MCCB and selected applications. Upgrades to servers, storage, and networking components help meet higher bandwidth demands, strengthen security, and ensure consistent, reliable technology services across the community college system.
- Connectivity and networking through support of the Mississippi Community College Connectivity Consortium (MC4), the wide-area network connecting the community colleges.
- Internal MCCB technology support that enables agency operations and statewide initiatives.
Pioneering Distance Learning
In the early 1990s, the MCCB and the community colleges launched one of the first statewide interactive video networks in the nation, known as the Community College Network. This early effort laid the groundwork for modern instructional technology and helped establish Mississippi as a leader in digital learning.
Building a Shared Technology Foundation
The MCCB and the community colleges have worked together to develop shared systems, infrastructure, and standards that support instruction and operations. While colleges manage many local platforms, the MCCB continues to oversee key applications and initiatives that benefit the entire system.
Supporting Users Across the State
The Information Technology Division supports the MCCB’s internal operations and assists colleges by maintaining reliable systems, providing centralized support for enterprise applications, and offering guidance on emerging technologies. These services help ensure that institutions have the tools and resources needed to support students, faculty, and staff.
