About
Our fifteen community colleges are the workforce training providers in Mississippi. Noncredit workforce education enables the colleges to respond to local labor market demands by meeting the workforce needs of current and future employers, as well as the needs of individuals for short-term skills training.
In 2020, Governor Reeves and the Mississippi Legislature established the new Office of Workforce Development (AccelerateMS). The charter legislation charged AccelerateMS with a mission to review existing programs; provide information, guidance, and significant influence on how funding sources should be utilized for workforce development; and serve as the coordinating entity for all workforce development stakeholder agencies in Mississippi.
