Student Organizations

Supporting Postsecondary Student Organizations

The Office of Postsecondary Student Organizations provides statewide coordination for Mississippi’s collegiate Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs). These organizations offer students opportunities to build leadership skills, apply classroom learning in real-world settings, participate in competitions, and connect with professionals in their fields. Through this coordinated support, the MCCB helps ensure that community college students have access to high-quality experiences that strengthen both academic and career readiness.

Systemwide Support for CTSOs

To strengthen CTSO chapters across Mississippi’s community colleges, the office provides leadership, communication, and guidance that help advisors and students succeed. This work includes:

  • Coordinating collegiate CTSO programs across the state
  • Supporting advisors and campus-level chapter leaders
  • Communicating requirements and updates from state and national CTSO organizations
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines and reporting expectations
  • Expanding opportunities for leadership development, professional growth, and competition
  • Aligning CTSO engagement with academic and workforce initiatives supported by the MCCB

Why Student Organizations Matter

Student organizations enhance the community college and university experience by providing students opportunities to lead, collaborate, and gain confidence. Participation helps students develop communication and teamwork skills, engage deeply in their programs of study, and prepare for careers through hands-on activities and competitive events. These benefits extend beyond the classroom and contribute to long-term student success.
