Supporting Colleges Through Research
The Office of Research and Effectiveness supports Mississippi’s 15 community colleges by coordinating statewide data collection, compliance, and reporting. Through shared data systems and evidence-based analysis, the office helps colleges meet state and federal requirements while strengthening planning and decision-making across the system.
What We Do
The Office of Research and Effectiveness:
- Oversees statewide enrollment data on behalf of the Mississippi Community College Board and the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC).
- Manages the system’s Electronic Audit Reporting System (eARS) used to exchange, verify, and report enrollment and productivity data that inform state funding formulas.
- Maintains admissions and enrollment monitoring policies to support consistency, compliance, and accountability across colleges, including the Enrollment Audit Guidelines.
- Provides data and analysis for college leaders, state policy makers, and partners through both standard and ad hoc reporting.
External Research
The Office also promotes collaboration and professional growth among those engaged in institutional research. The MACC welcomes qualified researchers seeking to conduct studies that support data-driven improvement throughout Mississippi’s community college system.
“External research” applies to studies intended for publication or conducted by or on behalf of individuals or organizations outside MACC. Requests must comply with established policies to ensure the responsible use of student and institutional data.
