Protecting Students. Ensuring Quality.
The Commission on Proprietary School and College Registration (CPSCR), administered through the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB), oversees registration, licensing, and compliance of proprietary schools in Mississippi.
Our mission is to ensure that proprietary institutions operate legally, ethically, and in ways that protect and support students.
What is a Proprietary School?
A proprietary school is a privately owned postsecondary educational institution that offers instruction or training to the public for a fee. These schools operate independently of Mississippi’s public colleges and universities.
Common examples include:
- Truck driving and transportation programs
- Health care and allied health training
- Specialized Computer certificate programs
- Technical and trade schools
All proprietary schools operating in Mississippi must be authorized by CPSCR before they can advertise, enroll students, or provide instruction.
