Resource Development

Connecting colleges to funding and grant resources

The Resource Development Division conducts research, plans, writes, reviews, and manages various federal, state, and foundation grant programs and opportunities for the Mississippi Community College Board.

Division staff conducts exploratory and development meetings with community college staff to assist in developing grant proposals of interest and to provide grant-writing and grant-administration workshops to build community college staff capacity. The Resource Development Division works closely with community colleges, the Mississippi Community College Foundation, and other public and private partner agencies and organizations to identify and secure external funding for the community college system.

To date, the Resource Development Division has secured over $20M for system-wide initiatives such as the Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (MIBEST), Mississippi Apprenticeship Program (MAP), Mississippi National Credentials Initiative (MNCI), Career Development Academies (CDA), and the Delta Aviation Project (DAP). Programs like MIBEST have been transformative for thousands of Mississippians seeking better educational and employment opportunities. Launched in 2013 as a workforce and economic development initiative, MIBEST helps low-skilled, non-credentialed individuals who do not complete a traditional high school diploma transition into careers with family-sustaining wages. To date, MIBEST has served more than 2,000 Mississippians pursuing improved educational and economic prospects. To learn more about MIBEST, contact your local community college’s adult education program.
