Promoting Compliance
The Office of Monitoring and Compliance is responsible for the continuous oversight of student enrollment to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. This includes conducting systematic reviews of admission and attendance records to ensure equitable and fair distribution of state funding. We provide targeted technical assistance to admissions, registrars, and institutional research/data staff.
The office administers the Methods of Administration program for the Office for Civil Rights in the area of Career and Technical Education. This responsibility includes monitoring each college’s provision of equal access to educational opportunities and ensuring compliance with applicable federal civil rights laws (Title VI, Title IX, Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act).
Methods of Administration (MOA)
The MCCB ensures full compliance with federal Civil Rights laws and policies at both the agency level and across Mississippi’s fifteen community and junior colleges.
In partnership with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, MCCB promotes awareness and understanding of compliance responsibilities to safeguard equity and inclusion throughout the state’s community college system.
To support these efforts, MCCB conducts the following activities:
- Workshops and Training: Provides periodic sessions for campus compliance officers and college personnel.
- On-Site Reviews: Performs annual visits to evaluate compliance at each institution.
- Federal Reporting: Submits biennial compliance reports to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
