Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographers pathway is designed to prepare individuals use high frequency sound waves to produce images of organs, masses, fluid collections, and vascular structures within the human body. Individuals are given the opportunity to master skills necessary to obtaining pertinent patient history, performing the sonographic examination, providing for the needs and comfort of the patient during examination, and recording anatomy and pathology or other data for interpretation by the supervising physician to aid in diagnosis.

Surgical Technology

The Surgical Technology pathway is designed to prepare individuals to serve as a member of the surgical team to work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, physician’s assistants and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery.

Respiratory Care Technology

The Respiratory Care Technology pathway is designed to prepare individuals to become respiratory therapists. Individuals work as members of a team of health-care professionals, work to evaluate, treat, and manage patients of all ages with respiratory, cardiac, and other systemic illnesses. These individuals are responsible for airway management and the setup and monitoring of life support systems. They provide treatment for heart and lung disorders by administering treatments, oxygen, drugs, and other therapeutic modalities.

Emergency Medical Services Technology options (Critical Care/ Advanced Emergency Medical Technology)

The Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) pathway is designed to prepare current paramedics to provide for the on-going care of a critically injured or ill patient during an inter-facility transport and in other special situations such as rotor wing or fixed wing transport. The program is intended to expand the knowledge base and skill set of the paramedic beyond the level of the entry level paramedic to perform special critical care assessments and treatments.

Cardiovascular Technology/Technologist

The Cardiovascular Technology pathway is designed to prepare individuals to operate sophisticated equipment in assisting physicians with diagnosing and treating patients with cardiac disease. Individuals are given the opportunity to master skills necessary to work in a cardiac catheterization laboratory where they prepare patients for and assist the physician with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures usually performed via radiologically-guided catheters and other instrumentation.

Physical Therapist Assistant

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) pathway is designed to prepare individuals to perform interventions under the supervision of physical therapists (PTs) in an ethical, legal, safe, and effective manner. The individuals enhance the delivery of physical therapy services by providing delegated interventions, assisting the PT with data collection, communicating with other members of the health-care delivery team, interacting with members of the patient’s family and caregivers, and working cooperatively with other health care providers.

Pharmacy Technology

The Pharmacy Technology pathway is designed to prepare the student for employment and advancement in the pharmacy field. Individuals are given the opportunity to master skills necessary to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing direct patient care and medications to patients.
