Academic & Student Affairs

Advancing Academic Excellence and Student Success

Academic and Student Affairs encompasses the policies, programs, and partnerships that ensure Mississippi’s community colleges deliver quality instruction and comprehensive student support. The Office of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) at the Mississippi Community College Board provides statewide leadership and coordination for these efforts, aligning academic programs, student services, and institutional initiatives across Mississippi’s 15 community colleges.

Working in partnership with faculty, administrators, and educational organizations, ASA ensures that programs are high-quality, transfer-ready, and aligned with student and workforce needs. The division’s work includes aligning academic programs with university transfer and statewide curriculum standards; expanding dual enrollment and dual credit opportunities; supporting student affairs, advising, and retention initiatives; maintaining the Uniform Course Numbering System (UCNS); and coordinating statewide associations that promote academic leadership and student success.

Through these efforts, ranging from curriculum alignment and articulation agreements to student engagement and leadership development, Academic and Student Affairs helps build seamless pathways that prepare Mississippi’s learners for success in college, career, and life.
