Digital Content Governance

Processes for Publishing Digital Content

MCCB follows a structured approach to ensure that all digital content is accessible, consistent, and ready for publication.

This page outlines how content is created, reviewed, and approved prior to being published to the website.

Shared Responsibility

All MCCB staff who create digital content are responsible for ensuring that materials meet established standards prior to submission.

Accessibility and content quality are expected to be addressed during content creation across all formats, including webpages, documents, presentations, and other digital materials.

Content Submission, Review, and Publishing Process

MCCB follows a defined process to ensure content is reviewed for accessibility, clarity, and consistency prior to publication.

Step 1: Content Creation

Content is developed by the content owner and prepared using established standards and available guidance. Materials should be reviewed prior to submission.

Step 2: Submission

Content is submitted to the designated Website Content Editor. Submissions should include all required elements and be final and ready for review.

Step 3: Review

Content is reviewed for accessibility, formatting, clarity, and alignment with MCCB standards.

Step 4: Outcome

Content is either approved and published or returned for revision with feedback. Materials that do not meet standards must be corrected prior to publication.

To support this process, content should be submitted in accordance with the timeline outlined below.

Submission Timeline and Review Expectations

To allow adequate time for review, materials should be submitted in advance of the desired publication date.

  • Standard updates: Submit at least 3–5 business days in advance
  • New pages or complex content (including documents): Submit at least 5–10 business days in advance
  • Time-sensitive requests: Will be accommodated when possible but may be limited based on review requirements

Submitting content early allows time for review, revisions if needed, and final approval prior to publication.

Accessibility Review Process

As part of the publishing workflow, MCCB applies consistent review practices using the same tools and guidance provided throughout the Digital Accessibility section of this site. This includes accessibility checks, document structure review, and validation of key elements such as headings, alternative text, tables, and links.

External Content and Third-Party Documents

MCCB does not serve as a repository for external documents. Third-party content will be linked directly from the source and include an accessibility disclaimer.

Standards for Publication

To maintain consistency across the website:

  • Only content that meets accessibility standards will be published
  • Content must follow MCCB formatting and editorial guidelines
  • Documents must be accessible prior to upload
  • Redundant or unnecessary files should be avoided

The MCCB website is designed to present information clearly and accessibly, not to function as a document repository.

Support and Resources

MCCB provides guidance and resources to support content development, including accessibility guidance for documents and step-by-step tutorials. These resources are available to assist content creators; however, responsibility for meeting standards remains with the content owner prior to submission.
